Since graduating from university I worked in property related industries and was promoted into senior roles. However, after a few years I married my teenage sweetheart and we reached the stage where we wanted to start a family. As soon as I fell pregnant I started my own business because I already knew I wouldn’t want the restrictions of a day job when I had a family. It was an e-commerce business which I started around my day job. All was going well but it was lonely, I had loads of stock to store, if I took a day off the business suffered, the income could be sporadic and the daily trips to the post office were getting a bit tedious. However, it was not in vain, through networking that business I met a lovely lady who offered me the opportunity to look at a completely different business model. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was, but to me it sounded incredibly exciting. My husband however was not so enthusiastic. To this day he still can’t quite pin point what it was that concerned him but I am very pleased that on this one occasion I chose my own path and continued anyway! Today I have a business that not only mean financially I never had to return to a ‘normal job’, but I have a sense of progression, unrivalled support, friendships and experiences that I would have never been exposed to in the normal work place. My family now have long term financial security, a fulfilled mother who doesn’t feel she is missing out and ‘sacrificing everything’ for the family.
Mummy to two pre-school aged children
When I was younger I had two visions of my grown up self. The first was to be a complete domestic goddess with several idyllic children playing peacefully around me whilst I created gourmet dinners for my suave husband. The second vision was of myself as a sophisticated business women holding my own in a impressive career! I remember being told that ‘you women want it all but you cant have it’! Well, I have to come clean… I am no domestic goddess and my children are best described as ‘spirited’. But against all the odds I have found a way to get the best of both my childhood visions. I am a happy, full time, stay at home mum and yet still have all the excitement, benefits and progression of a fully fledge career! I feel so privileged that I now want to help as many other parents discover how they too might be able to have the amazing choices that I have.
Sometimes we can spend too long analysing the opportunities that present themselves to us. I am pleased that when I saw this business I just got stuck in and followed the very easy system the company teach. Just by following a few simple guidelines I have been able to build a really substantial business for mine and my families future.
